Authors have found out: when people are concentrated to concrete aspects, how it is possible to achieve the object, it does not give them possibility to see prospect which are beyond their plans. And, on the contrary, the people paying attention to a question: «Why I do it?», usually consider the most different possibilities for achievement of the purposes.
For studying of consumer behaviour for the purpose of economy of money researchers have spent some experiments. In one they have asked people to develop the concrete plan how to spend less, in other of participants have asked to concentrate on why they would like to save. Thus all participants had an opportunity to buy sweets.
As a result in the second group it has been bought much less sweets: people represented, on what they can spend the saved money, and did not spend means only for sweets.
«Planning is more effective when people think abstractly, and remind itself of why they aspire to achieve the object», – authors write. This strategy is rather effective in the diversified cases, for example, at growing thin. Instead of infinitely thinking of, how to dump excess weight, it is necessary to understand, why you do it. For example, to feel more healthy, to look younger, well in fashionable clothes and to save on meal — after all fruit and vegetables is much cheaper than sweets and other high-calorific meal. Such reflexions will give necessary motivation and will help to achieve the object easily.
